Bulgin expands 4000 Series power range

With a growing demand for miniaturized and reliable connectors, Bulgin has introduced the addition of 2, 4, 6 & 10 pole configurations to its miniature circular power connector range.

Why are we expanding the range from 3, 8 & 12 poles?

The need to facilitate multiple poles/cores is driven by modern applications of cables and the demand for increased flexibility within the system. To connect two or more devices, it is important to have a spread of pole counts capable of carrying varying voltages and currents to facilitate the large range of systems requiring the distribution of power and signals to devices within systems.

This increased choice of conductor options makes the 4000 series more adaptable to a broader range of signal and power connectivity systems.

Why is it necessary to fill the gaps?

Christian Taylor, Engineering Team Leader at Bulgin highlights that "There are so many varying industries and needs for connected solutions within engineered electromechanical systems that 3, 8 & 12 poles would simply not cover all scenarios. Along with increased flexibility, the addition of 2, 4, 6 & 10 poles enables system engineers to ensure that they are not using components that are over-engineered for their system. This allows customers to potentially reduce costs by choosing the most appropriate pole variant for their needs instead of paying more for a version where you may only use a portion of its capabilities."

"Also this increased amount of options removes risk. For instance, if you needed to terminate 4 cores but only had the option of an 8 pole connector, this greatly increases the potential for error in termination and wiring."

The Buccaneer 4000 Series was developed to provide excellent sealing characteristics to IP66, IP68 and IP69K standards in a small form factor – ensuring true environmental protection in harsh condition applications especially where space is at a premium.

Able to withstand vibrations, shocks and corrosion to EN/IEC 60068 requirements and salt spray for marine applications, these low cost miniature connectors have a UV-resistant, UL94-V0 flammability-rated plastic body equipped with a simple and efficient bayonet locking mechanism, enabling a secure connection without the need for specialist tools.
